Trichotillomania is self-induced hair loss, the result of hairs being pulled or removed. It occurs mostly in young children, teenagers and affects twice as many women as men. The hair is often peeled away from the scalp, but also eyebrows and eyelashes are picked.
The treatment for trichotillomania involves conversation therapy and psychiatric help and in some cases also anti-depressant medications.
