At Istanbul Hair Clinic we are using FUE .
The difference is how to remove the grafts : the FUE takes them out one by one, the FUT takes out a strip of skin which is then divided into transplants under a microscope. Each transplant contains a follicular unit, FU. What we do for our clients is FUE.
Yes, there is! Pay attention to whether it's about the grafts or hair. Grafts consist of one or more strands of hair depending of how they are cut and the technology used. Hair is just a hair.
You must again be aware that there is a difference between grafts and hairs . The most talented hair surgeon can now transplant 4500 grafts at a time. Many Swedish clinics can still today not transplant more than 2000 grafts at a time.
The transplanted hairs grow throughout your life.
As with all surgeries , there is a risk of infection but just for a hair transplant , it is very rare . If you still get an infection, it is easy to cure with antibiotics.
Yes, nowadays it is usually impossible to see who has done a hair transplant. Ancient operations with the so-called punch method look unnatural, like " however hair" , small groups of hair. One can make them look more natural with an additional surgery.
You are welcome to take walks and bike rides immediately after surgery but you should normally wait a week after FUE and two weeks after FUT before going to the usual workout.
When the skin heals , it always occurs by the formation of scar tissue. But at FUE very small point shaped scars are formed which in practice are usually invisible and with FUT with the new way to stop the tissue, it becomes a narrow line on the scalp, often invisible or very difficult to detect.
After the transplant hair follicles go into hibernation. This means that the hair on the grafts fall off. Only after three months the new hair grows out . It can take up to 120 days before all the hair follicles have been producing new hair . Hair grows about 1 cm per month. Only after 9-12 months the hair has grown out 6-7 cm on average. Only then can you make an objective assessment of the operation.
Yes, if you want to transplant large quantities of hair , you can do multiple operations . With FUE , you can do surgery several days in a row where you take FUE from different areas on different days. If you want to do a second surgery you have to wait about 8 months after the first, for it is only at that time all the hair has come out from the first operation. What determines how many transplants you can do is the supply of hair and elasticity of the scalp.
The first day you may be in need of painkillers as this can tender a portion of the scalp. We will send the tablets to take as needed . Many patients do not take their painkillers.
The transplanted hairs grow throughout life. First week the scabs in the area are visible but since we put short hair that begins to grow , because it becomes a natural densification of hair that environment usually do not notice at all.
Yes, we can. We operate both eyebrows , sideburns , beards and mustaches for example.
Yes, one can take from other areas of the body but it will not be as good. The hair from the back of the head is for life , but if one were to take the hair from the example breasts about 50% would fall off and there will be bad results.
An operation can always pose a risk if you have other serious diseases. Since this is a procedure that you do only for the sake of appearance, one should be fully fit. With certain diseases, we are able to operate under the supervision of an anesthetist.
In Sweden there are two drugs approved to treat common hereditary hair loss. It is partly a tablet, Propecia and partly a resolution, Regaine. For both preparations , these shall be used every day for life. If you quit taking them, whether it is for a shorter period or completely, you will start losing your hair again. These preparations should be used for at least 6-12 months before we can evaluate if they have had an effect or not. Surveys show that Propecia and Regaine can slow down hair loss. Some people also experience a certain new growth . People who have only seen an incipient thinning hair, obtain the best effect. Finasteride has proved slightly more efficient than Regain. Regaine can be purchased at the pharmacy and Propecia is available on prescription from your doctor. There are only few recorded side effects with these preparations. Only hair transplants can relieve symptoms with more severe hair loss. More information can be obtained by a plastic surgeon.
As a general rule it can be said that when the wounds have healed and the scabs are gone , you can go to the hairdresser and get a haircut and after about 50 – 60 days you can use the shaving machine. One should not use dye or hair gels on their hair for the first two months after surgery.
Simply said , yes! For women , it can be a great mental stress to lose her hair in a young age , making the hair transplant an option , if medicine is not having the desired effect. Hair loss in women is virtually inherited and women often lose the hair on the crown because of that. Very rarely , a woman is completely bald.
No, you can’t. A hair transplant redistributes the hair. Usually hair is taken from the neck, and possibly from the sides, where you have more hair than you need. Next, it is "planted" on the bare area/areas.
Most often local anesthesia is used, although some patients prefer a little extra soothing morphine so they can sleep during the surgery. Generally, most however are awake throughout the procedure .
Yes, it is advised not to ingest alcohol, painkillers or Vitamin E one week before surgery.
